Staying Productive

In this ever evolving internet social media driven world in which we live it is oh so easy to get caught up in the belief that we are being productive when in fact all we are doing is socializing. Facebook! Twitter! LinkdIn! The list goes on and on and on.

Many of spend countless hours and very precious hours at that contacting and even socializing with one another. All too often we are able to explain it away by saying that this is or was a valuable contact. Truth be told, all of our endless banter and needless chatter only exposes our unwillingness to do the real meaningful things such as article marketing, video marketing, reading, studying and many more productive activities.

Now I’m not saying that we have no business using these social platforms to market our business. But, there is a danger as it relates to being busy but not being productive.

So how do we reign in those forces that keep getting us off track. How do we limit our desire to socialize while maintaining our social contacts. There is a segment of successful people who manage to do both. Stay productive while also staying social.

The key is in simple time management. We need to limit our time on certain activities. Take for example our Facebook interactions could be limited to 20 minutes per day. Choose which time works best for you but stick to the time frame. What you will find is that by sticking to the time limit you will do the things necessary in the needed amount of time.

Then and only then will you see your productivity rise and your social involvement will not suffer…
